Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The security service of the Russian-produced search engine Yandex detected a leak that led to data belonging to about 5 thousand email boxes falling into the hands of third parties. It was announced that the leak was caused by one of the Yandex employees.
A statement from Yandex said: "During an internal investigation, it was discovered that an employee provided unauthorized access to third parties' mailboxes belonging to users. This employee was one of 3 system administrators who had the necessary access to provide technical support to the service."
E-mail owners have been notified that they need to change their passwords, the statement said.
Yandex apologized to all those affected by the leak, promising to reconsider the business organization of employees with such levels of administrative access rights to reduce the impact of the human factor on personal data security.
