Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- World Penguin Day is celebrated on April 25 to raise public awareness of the threats faced by penguins due to global warming and human activity.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) warns that if global warming cannot be limited to 1.5 degrees Celsius, 50% of emperor penguin colonies on the Antarctic continent could be disappear.

According to the models developed by geophysicists, if global warming cannot be limited to 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial periods, it will cause ice erosion with a 240% increase in precipitation and intense surface melting at the end of the current century.
