News Center -TDO- On 1 March 2002, within the framework of the working visit of the Minister of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic Baktybek Bekbolotov met with the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey Hulusi Akar.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current situation and prospects of military-technical cooperation. As a result of the meeting, ''The Roadmap for Military-Technical Cooperation'' was signed.
A meeting was held between the Minister of Defense Baktybek Bekbolotov and the Commander of the School of Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey Gultekin Yaraly to strengthen further cooperation in the field of military education. The parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of military education. The Kyrgyz delegation got acquainted with the activities of the Military School and met with cadets from Kyrgyzstan studying at the Military School.
During the visit, the Kyrgyz delegation met with the leadership of the Defense Industry Directorate under the Office of the President of the Republic of Turkey and visited the facilities of the Asfat complex, a state-owned enterprise in the field of military industry, maintenance and support of military factories. The Kyrgyz delegation also visited the Aselsan company, which is the leading company in the Turkish defense industry, whose activities cover communications and information technologies, defense technologies, and security.
During their stay in Ankara, the delegation of the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic met with Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev at the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Turkey, visited the Anitkabir and the monument of Magnanimous Manas on the central square of the Kechioren municipality in Ankara.
