19/11/2020

Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has announced a veto of the European Union Budget and bailout program, claiming countries that do not want to accept migrants can be blackmailed.

Orban told the Hungarian news agency that his country's veto of the European Union's total budget of 1.8 trillion euros and its bailout program against the economic consequences of coronavirus is in line with the law.

"If the current proposal is accepted, there will be no obstacle to connecting the money that should be given to member states to migration support, so that countries that reject migration can be blackmailed through the funds," said Orban, who assessed that they refuse to link European Union funds to the rule of law."

Orban added that his country is open to co-operation, in line with the principle of transparency and ready to compromise from the start, and also respects the rule of law principle.
