Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made remarks on the coup in Myanmar.
Speaking on a live broadcast of the Washington Post, Guterres said the military coup was "absolutely unacceptable" after the elections, which were held under normal circumstances.
“I hope that democracy will be able to make progress again in Myanmar. But for that, all the prisoners must be released, the constitutional order must be reestablished, and I hope that the international community will be able to come together.” Guterres said.
"If he was going to be charged with something, he was very close to the army and he protected the army too much, he protected it a lot in the army's attack on the Arakanese," Guterres said of the charges against the detained Aung San Suu Kyi for violating import and export laws in the country.
