U.N. REPORT ACCUSES YEMEN GOVERNMENT OF MONEY-LAUNDERING, HOUTHIS OF TAKING STATE REVENUE

Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- The United Nations (UN) Independent Panel of Experts accused the Yemeni government of "laundering money and corrupting" with resources to be used for food supplies and accused the Houthi of seizing $1.8 billion in state revenue and transferring those resources into the war.

According to the UN Independent Panel of Experts Report, all parties in Yemen have been accused of "economic profiteering”.

"The Houthi collect taxes and other state revenues and use them for war, even though they are only within the authority of the Yemeni Government," the report said.

According to the report, the government illegally transferred $423 million of the funds from Saudi Arabia.
