Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Israeli rockets hit what they said were rocket launched at Israel in the early hours of August 5 in response to two rockets fired from Lebanese territory.
Rockets launched from Lebanon hit open areas in the northern Israeli region and caused bushfires along the hilly border.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, which took place from an area in southern Lebanon dominated by Iranian-backed Hezbollah guerrillas.
The Lebanese military said Israel responded with several artillery fire on August 4 before launching airstrikes in the early hours of August 5.
Shortly after the attacks, al-Manar TV reported that Israeli warplanes raided a location near the Lebanese village of Mahmudiya, about 7.5 miles from the Israeli border.
Speaking to Israeli-sourced YNet TV, Defence Minister Benny Gantz said, "This was an attack to send a message... Obviously we could have done a lot more and we hope that won't be necessary," he said.
