News Center -TDO- President of the Turkish-Japanese Foundation Prof. Dr. Hosted by Nejat Bora Sayan, the "Disaster Risk Reduction Project Competition Award Ceremony" organized by the Turkish - Japanese Foundation for Primary, Secondary, High School and Special Education Students and JICA Turkey Office for the first time in Turkey was held at Ankara Turkish - Japanese Foundation .
The ceremony was attended by Foundation President Prof. Dr. Nejat Bora Sayan, JICA Turkey Office President Tanaka Yuko, Japanese Ambassador Kazuhiro Suzuki, AFAD President Governor Yunus Sezer, Deputy Minister of National Defense Alparslan Kavaklıoğlu, Deputy Minister of National Education Prof. Dr. Petek Aşkar, Deputy Country Representative and JICA Turkey Office II. Head Assoc. Dr. Emin Özdamar and teachers, students and parents of 14 projects that were deemed worthy of the award.
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Turkish-Japanese Foundation (TJV), which have signed important projects to transfer Japan's experiences to Turkey by contributing to disaster risk reduction and disaster education in Turkey; It organizes "Disaster Education Competitions" in close cooperation with the Ministry of National Education (MEB), Ministry of Interior, Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), Middle East Technical University and Emergency Support Foundation.
The first competition in this context, the "Disaster Education Material Development Competition", was held in 2021 for teachers. The second was held in 2022 as a "Disaster Risk Reduction Project Competition" for students.
Students from 28 provinces across Turkey applied with 99 projects to the first "Disaster Risk Reduction Project Competition" held for primary, secondary, high school and special education levels. The jury selected 32 projects from 21 provinces as semi-finalists and after the online project presentations on 28 and 29 May 2022. 14 projects were awarded.
After the speeches, 14 project owners were presented their awards.
