İrem UZUN -TDO- President Trump on Monday called Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country’s highest-ranking infectious diseases expert who has been key in guiding the U.S.’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, as “disaster”. “He’s been here for 500 years... People are tired of hearing Fauci and all these idiots,” Trump said.

“Whenever Dr. Fauci does a TV interview, it is a bomb, but that it is a bigger bomb if you fire him,” the president said. Trump and Fauci have been at odds over how best to handle a pandemic. Fauci also objected to the president’s campaign using his words in a campaign ad.

Fauci had said in an interview on Sunday that he was not surprised by Trump coming down with the virus after he held large events with no face coverings. “I was worried that he was going to get sick when I saw him in a completely precarious situation of crowded no separation between people, and almost nobody wearing a mask,” he said of the president.

On Sunday night in Nevada, Trump addressed thousands of supporters, where the vast majority wore no masks. The president warned that a Biden election would lead to further lockdowns since he would listen to scientists.  “He’ll listen to the scientists. If I listened totally to the scientists, we would right now have a country that would be in a massive depression,” Trump said.
