Selin ATAY-TDO- After the United Arab Emirates, another Gulf country Bahrain has reached an agreement to normalize relations with Israel, US President Donald Trump announced in a post shared on his official Twitter account.

"Another important historical breakthrough today," the US President said in a post shared on his Twitter account, noting that the second country in the last 1 month has reached an agreement with Israel. “Our two great friends, Israel and the Kingdom of Bahrain agree to a peace deal”, he tweeted.

Donald Trump told reporters that it was also interesting that the deal happened on September 11.

US President Trump, Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a diplomatic meeting over the deal. Trump also shared the joint statement made by the three countries via Twitter. After the meeting, Israel and Bahrain agreed to "establish full diplomatic relations," the statement said.

"Opening direct dialog and ties between these two dynamic societies and advanced economies will continue the positive transformation of the Middle East and increase stability, security, and prosperity in the region," the United States, Bahrain and Israel said in a joint statement.

The joint statement said Israel reiterated its commitment that Masjid Al-Aqsa, as well as other holy sites in Jerusalem, would remain open to visitors from all faiths.

Bahrain's King Bin Isa will reportedly attend the official signing ceremony of the agreement reached between Israel and the UAE, which will be held at the White House on September 15.

Bahrain's foreign ministry congratulated the UAE on its normalization agreement with Israel. "Bahrain congratulates the UAE on reaching a deal that halts the annexation of Palestinian territories and taking steps that solidify peace opportunities in the Middle East," the statement said.
