Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Security forces in Myanmar have attacked the funeral of a pro-democracy activist who was killed during protests on March 27.
A large group gathered in Yangon, the country's commercial capital, to attend the funeral of Thae Maung Maung, a 20-year-old student who was killed during protests on March 27.
According to eyewitnesses, members of the military and police arrived at the site of the ceremony in military vehicles and opened fire on the civilian population with live ammunition.
"They're targeting us like birds," said one woman who attended the funeral. They don't hurt at all. When he started shooting at us, we left the funeral and ran into the alleys. But we were just singing at the ceremony," he said.
Attacks on activists by soldiers and police trying to block demonstrations in the country killed 114 people across the country, including six children aged between 10 and 16.
