THOUSANDS LEFT HOMELESS BY INDONESIA VOLCANO ERUPTION

Serhat TUNAR -TDO- In Indonesia, an eruption at Ili Lewotolok volcano in the eastern city of Nusa Tenggara, on the Lesser Sunda Islands, forced about 2,800 people from 28 villages in the region to leave their homes.

It was announced that the ash and smoke spewed in the explosion reached a height of 4 thousand meters from the volcano's crater.

The eruption of the volcano, 2,600 kilometres from the capital Jakarta, has caused serious fear and panic among residents in the region. After the explosion, the local airport was closed to flights.
