Serhat TUNAR -TDO- France returned all of the masks it confiscated in Lyon while they were shipped to Italy and Spain by a Swedish firm.
The incident that led to the diplomatic crisis between Sweden and Paris occurred on 5 March. The 4 million masks that disposable medical supplies company Mölnlycke bought from China and brought to Lyon for transfer were confiscated by France on March 5. After Sweden stepped in, France had agreed to release only half of the masks.
The French government cites the circular, which came into force two days before the masks reached France, as justification for this action. The circular, signed on March 3, 2020, allows the seizure of all mask production and stockpiles on French soil.
As is known, there has been a similar crisis between Czechia and Italy among the members of the European Union before. Czechia had confiscated masks and respirators sent from China to Italy during the transfer in Prague.
