News Center -TDO- The launch of the book "Guatemalan Flavors in Turkey", written by Euda Morales, organized by Ankara University Latin American Research and Application Center (LAMER) and the Guatemalan Embassy, was held in the Senate Hall of Ankara University.
Ankara University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar, Director of the Ankara University Latin American Research and Application Center (LAMER) Mehmet Necati Kutlu, Author Euda Morales, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Levent Gümrükçü, Guatemala, Cuba, Costa Rica, Paraguay, Ecuador, Panama, Dominica, Argentina, and Bolivia Ambassadors, and the Undersecretary of the Embassy of El Salvador and the faculty members attended the event.
Mehmet Necati Kutlu, Director of the Ankara University Latin American Research and Application Center (LAMER), who gave the opening speech of the event, thanked the participants and "Gastronomy is an art that contains important clues between countries, nations, and even people. Kitchen and table manners give information about the lives, expectations, and overviews of people on the other side of the world." said in his statement.
Ambassador Jairo Estrada said in his statement that, "Gastronomy and Cultural Diplomacy" conducted by my country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs facilitates the realization of these and similar projects. Guatemalan artists from all over the world have had the chance to come together within the framework of the "Cultural Promotion" project and introduce their talents, experiences, and expertise in all countries. Today, I am also very happy to see that this project has succeeded once again. The gastronomy universe is an opportunity for us to get to know the tastes and riches of many countries. Therefore, this book offers an important opportunity to get to know and experience a small part of Guatemalan cuisine. I would like to thank Chief Euda Lisseth for her excitement and dedication. I would also like to thank everyone who made it possible to promote this book."
Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar said, "We are very happy that "Guatemalan Flavors in Turkey" by author and chef Euda Morales, who combines the unique and exotic aspects of the Guatemalan with lived stories, has been translated into Turkish. We are also pleased that the faculty and students of our University will be able to benefit from this work, which includes recipes of dishes that are important in Guatemalan absolute culture, and I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank everyone who contributed to bringing this work into our language, especially the author Euda Morales, our Latin American Research Center of the Guatemalan Embassy in Turkey."
Author Euda Morales said in his statement that, "My book, "Guatemalan Flavors in Turkey", introduces the rich heritage of Guatemalan cuisine to readers, while doing so through ten magical gastronomy stories. The stories tell local recipes and cooking methods just as mothers pass on to their children. Written in plain and playful language, each story told in this book greets the reader with an image beforehand. These images are like a trailer for the surprise that the story contains. On the other hand, there is a real-life character who is a part of every story and description. From these perspectives, it has gone beyond just being a recipe book, with the way it deals with culinary landscapes and original recipes prepared in these kitchens from within daily life. The secret recipes of local cuisine are revealed in this book."
Foreign Ministry Director-General for America Levent Gümrükçü also gave a speech at the event.
The event ended with a lunch presented by Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar for the guests.
