News Center -TDO- The Embassy of Guatemala and Bilkent University Department of Tourism and Hotel Management organized a food tasting event prepared by Guatemalan chef Euda Morales at Bilkent Le Piment Rouge Restaurant on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the country's independence.
Guatemalan Ambassador Jairo David Estrada Barrios, as well as the ambassadors of India, Montenegro, Singapore, Kyrgyzstan, Finland, Latin American Studies Research and Application Center Director Mehmet Necati Kutlu, Bilkent University Rector Prof. Abdullah Atalar, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences Prof. Altay Güvenir, Head of Tourism and Hotel Management Department Eda Gürel and Director General of Foreign Promotion and Cultural Affairs Ambassador Deniz Çakar attended the ceremony.
At the event, "Iguashte" with pounded coriander and dried hot pepper sauce from Guatemalan cuisine, "Pepian"— the main dish made of chicken, carrots and green beans, and "Mollettes", which is usually eaten on Easter holidays in Guatemalan culture were served to the guests.
In his speech, Ambassador Jairo David Estrada Barrios emphasized the importance of celebrating the 200th anniversary of his country's independence and said they are celebrating the 147th anniversary of bilateral relations between Turkey and Guatemala this year.
Ambassador Barros also said that the book "Tales of Guatemala", written by Guatemalan chef Euda Morales, has been translated into Turkish.
