Last month, the Iraq inquiry report also known as the Chilcot Report was published in a public statement by Sir John Chilcot. The report is a public inquiry into the UK’s role in the Iraq war and it was announced in 2009 by the Prime Minister of the time, Gordon Brown.
The inquiry was carried out by a committee of Privy Counsellors to consider the involvement of the UK in Iraq between 2001 and 2009. The final report included the steps leading to the conflict, the military action that was taken afterwards and the aftermath of the involvement. The aim was to determine what happened and identify conclusions to ensure that the UK government is equipped to act in an effective manner and in the best interest of the country in case of a similar situation in the future.By Ceren BREGEONYou can read the rest of the article on our issue of August
