Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Spain's Foreign Minister, Arancha Gonzalez Laya, said Turkey had rejected a unilateral search for energy reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean, claiming such actions had increased tensions in the region and blocked the path to negotiations.
Laya visited the Greek Cypriot administration with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, and discussed the latest developments in the region with Greek counterpart Nikos Christodoulides.
"We do not believe there is a unilateral solution to the problems of the Eastern Mediterranean region," Laya told reporters after the meeting. Therefore, we reject unilateral moves that do not help to find a long-term solution. The only way for a permanent solution is negotiations, dialogue. Spain also supports dialogue between Turkey and Greece and Turkey and Cyprus."
