Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Euthanasia and assisted suicide were legalized after a vote in Spain's Parliament.
With a vote in the lower house of parliament, the bill was passed with 2 abstentions and 202 'yes' votes against 140 'no'.
The resolution, mostly backed by the leftist coalition, received support from other parties.
The far-right and conservative parties opposed the resolution and later vowed to repeal it.
Spanish Health Minister Carolina Darias commented on the bill's adoption as an important step "towards the recognition of human rights" and expressed satisfaction.
