Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Egyptian President Abdulfettah al-Sisi underlined the "cultural difference" between Western countries and Arap World. And he claimed that the death sentences in his country were justified.
The European Union (EU) -Arap Union Summit, which was held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, has ended. Speaking at a news conference at the closing of the summit, Abdulfettah al-Sisi reacted to criticism of the death penalty by European countries. Sisi stated that the death penalty in the country is necessary because of the region and cultural differences.
Sisi stated, “When a person dies as a result of a terrorist attack, the family of the person tells me that their child should be paid. This culture exists in the region and it has laws. There are cultural differences between Europe and the Arab countries. Europe's goal is to ensure the well-being of its citizens; our priority is to protect our countries and to protect them from collapse.”
