Severe forest fires in Yakutia, Russia's coldest region, for three years in a row have been caused by hot weather.

Due to heavy smoke, the airport in Yakutsk, the regional capital of 280,000 people, was temporarily closed.

Russia's Emergencies Ministry declared a regional emergency.
