Hassam Hameed-TDO-27.01.2018- UN sanctions has been violated according to a report from Reuters that North Korea shipped coal to Russia, which was used as a transit spot to direct it to Japan and South Korea. Lat 5th August UN put a ban on North Korea’s export of coal which is a key source of finance for its missile and nuclear programme.
But as reported by Reuters that sanctions set by UN have been violated. A shipping source claimed that cargoes reached Japan and South Korea as of last October, whereas US security source claims that it is still continuing. “Russia’s port of Nakhodka is becoming a transhipping hub for North Korean coal,” said one of the European security sources. Legal experts have said that this is violation of sanctions set by UN.
White House did not respond to the request of commenting. Foreign ministry spokeswoman of China Hua Chunying told reporters, that she is not aware of such transactions but is fully committed to the implementation of UN resolutions.
