Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Russia's military says it has killed 200 fighters in an airstrike north of the Syrian city of Palmyra.
A statement posted on the official Facebook account of the Russian Defense Ministry said an air operation had been carried out in the area after the 'terrorist' points were confirmed by various sources.
Two shelters in the area were targeted and about 200 fighters were killed.
The air operation destroyed half a tonne of ammunition, including 24 heavily armed pickups and explosives, the statement said.
"According to intelligence reports, the militants set up a camouflaged training center near Palmyra, training terrorists there before sending them to attack different parts of the country," Alexander Karpov, head of Russia's Center for Reconciliation of Parties in Syria, said in a statement, adding that the area was a 'training center for terrorists’.
