Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that sanctions imposed by the European Union (EU) on 2 and 22 March on 6 Russian citizens were responded to within about 2 months.
Moscow's government says eight EU officials, including European Parliament President David Sassoli, have been banned from entering Russia.
"The European Union continues its policy of unilateral, unlawful restrictive measures targeting Russian citizens and institutions. Our offers to find solutions through dialogue have been rejected. The Western press is consciously accompanying anti-Russian policies, and they are not supported by evidence," the statement said.
"We believe this was done with the knowledge and encouragement of the United States, which has made no secret of its desire to turn the EU back into an island of geopolitical confrontation," the Russian Foreign Ministry said, noting that the EU's sanctions policy violates the UN Charter and the basic principles of international law and that the Washington administration was involved in the sanctions case.
