Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- A military parade was held in Russia to mark the 76th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as foreign delegations, attended the ceremony in Red Square, Moscow, the capital.
The parade showcased more than 190 pieces of military equipment, including about 12,000 troops and intercontinental ballistic missile launchers.
Putin posed for photos with Soviet war veterans on a platform set up in Red Square.
"Russia will defend international law again and again, but at the same time we will strictly protect our national interests and ensure the safety of our people," Putin said at the ceremony.
At the end of the ceremony, Putin laid a wreath at the Unknown Soldier Monument near the Kremlin Palace.
Tajikistan's President Imali Rahman also attended the ceremony.
