Selin ATAY-TDO- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Iran was very happy that US President Donald Trump had left the White House.
After a Cabinet meeting in the capital, Tehran, President Rouhani mentioned about Joe Biden, who was elected the 46th president of the United States, and the new United States government. “Thank God, these are his final days,” the Iranian President said of US President Trump, who has taken a hard line on Iran throughout his term. Also he called Trump a “tyrant,” “the most unruly, lawless president” and a “terrorist and murderer.”
“Some say you are overexcited by the advent of Mr. Biden. No, we are not, but we are very happy to see Trump leave,” the Iranian president said in televised comments at a cabinet meeting. “This man, who has committed so many crimes, murderers and terrorists, has not shown us mercy, even in the supply of vaccines. We are very happy that this tyrant, who does not adhere to any value, has been overthrown," he added.
The Iranian President said the Biden administration would make its own choice on Iran. "If he wants the right path, he is ready, and if he wants the wrong path, he is ready. We hope that the votes given to Mr. Biden by the American people will show that it is a vote of commitment to agreements, not a violation of agreements, and that it is given for the rule of law," he added.
Rouhani, meanwhile, said that under Joe Biden, who won the U.S. election, he expected Washington to return to the nuclear deal and lift sanctions. However, President Rouhani stressed that today's conditions are different from those in 2015, when the agreement was signed.
Rouhani also noted that Iran's military and nuclear capabilities have increased too much to compare with conditions in 2015. Despite this, the Iranian President announced that if the United States returns to its commitments in the nuclear agreement, Iran will also align its steps with its commitments in the agreement.
