Selin ATAY-TDO- Police officers reported on Saturday that, far-right activists set fire to the Koran in the southern Swedish city of Malmo, sparking riots and unrest after more than 300 people gathered to protest.
Protesters against the burning of a Koran by far-right supporters have clashed with police forces during several hours of rioting.
Cars were set on fire and shop fronts were damaged in the clashes in the southern city of Malmo.
Rioters set fires and threw objects at police and rescue services Friday night, slightly injuring several police officers and pave way to the detention of about 15 people.
The violence followed the burning Friday afternoon of a Quran that was carried out by far-right activists and posted online, according to the Sweden-based news agency.
Afterward, three individuals were captured on doubt of inducing contempt against an ethnic group in the wake of kicking the Muslim sacred book.
Police forces barred far-right Danish politician Rasmus Paludan from attending the Koran-burning rally. Swedish police turned Danish politician Paludan back at the border, saying there was a two-year entry ban for him.
