Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said in a statement that the plan by United States President Joe Biden's administration to reopen its consulate in Jerusalem serving Palestinians was a "bad idea."
Lapid made the comments at a briefing organized by the State Department.
Regarding the US administration's plan to reopen the consulate, which was closed under former President Donald Trump in 2019, Lapid said, "We think this is a bad idea and we have told the United States that we think it is a bad idea. Jerusalem is only the sovereign capital of Israel. Therefore, we do not think this is a good idea," he said.
