Selin ATAY-TDO- The United States and Qatar are in a strategic alliance based on mutual respect and common interests,
Qatari Defence Minister Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah said in the Qatar-based television program.
"Immediately understanding the depth of strategic relations between the administrations of Washington and Doha, Trump stepped back from his position of supporting countries that impose a blockade on Qatar," Qatar's Defence Minister said on a television program which he joined as a guest.
Attiyah also said there was evidence confirmed by heads of state that the blockading countries intended to stage a military attack on Qatar.
In a statement about Turkey, which Qatar's Defence Minister described as a “fraternal and allied country”, he said that Turkey and Qatar had reached a military cooperation agreement long before the blockade began.
A report on the same television program stated that there were secret networks that fabricated false news and stories to target Qatar's allies, especially Turkey.
The report also alleged that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia had secret documents that supported research centers and fake accounts to plan military attacks against Qatar.
The report also noted the presence of a UAE network in Cairo, the Egyptian capital, targeting Qatar and Turkey.
On June 5, 2017, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt ended all diplomatic relations with Qatar, closing its land, sea and air routes and imposing an economic blockade on Qatar. This policy against Qatar had led to a crisis in the Gulf region. Kuwait, on the other hand, was an mediator in the crisis that arose in the Gulf region.
