Selin ATAY-TDO- Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic says Russian President Vladimir Putin has apologized to him for the post shared by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mariya Zaharova via her social media account.
Vucic told the state television station that during his phone conversations with Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, they discussed relations between Russia and Serbia.
Serbian leader also mentioned about Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zakharova’s post in which she compared the photo of Vucic at a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump to a scene from the iconic thriller “Basic Instinct.” Vucic said Putin and Lavrov also apologized to him for the spokeswoman Zakharova’s post.
Russian leader Putin said that Russia did not approve of the social media post, according to Serbian President statement.
Information that Putin had apologized to Vucic was confirmed by Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov.
Vucic was in Washington last week to sign a U.S.-brokered agreement with Kosovo’s Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti to normalize economic relations between the two countries.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova shared a post in which she compared the photo of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic at a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump to a scene from the iconic thriller “Basic Instinct.”
“If you were invited to the WH (White House), and the chair was put as if you were in questioning, sit down as in photo #2 Whoever you are. Just believe me.” Maria Zakharova said in her post.
