News Center -TDO- Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Turkey, Abzal Saparbekuly, hosted the commemoration of Bawırjan Momışulı for the 111th anniversary of his birth and the publicity meeting of the book "Turkistan's Od Bala Bawırjan Momışulı," written by the author Asur Özdemir, at the Embassy of Kazakhstan.
Ambassador Saparbekuly, author Özdemir and distinguished guests attended the event.
Making the opening speech, Ambassador Saparbekuly shared parts from Bawırjan Momışulı's life and talked about his importance for Kazakhstan and the Turkic World. "He did not take the -ov, -ev suffixes in his surname in the Soviet era. He proudly carried the surname Momışoğlu by taking the suffix "ul" meaning "son". He even said that once, during the war, he refused the medal, which was presented with the words "Momysov", because "dogs bark "ov-ov" in our village," Saparbekuly said.
Author Asur Özdemir gave examples of the heroism of Bawırjan Momışulı and said he was a significant person who did not compromise his personality despite all the challenges he experienced in the 20th century (i.e. October Revolution, Great Famine, and exiles).
After the speeches, the guests watched a short show video.
