İrem UZUN -TDO- Prince William said Monday that his grandfather, Prince Philip, is “OK” as the 99-year-old royal consort remains in a London hospital for rest and observation. Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was admitted to hospital on Tuesday as a precautionary measure after feeling ill with an ailment that was not related to COVID-19.
“Yes, he’s OK, they’re keeping an eye on him,” William said on a visit to a vaccination center in eastern England. Royal reporters said he delivered his message with a wink. The Duke was admitted to the private King Edward VII’s Hospital in central London after feeling unwell for a short period, Buckingham Palace said, and was kept in over the weekend for further observation. Source said on Friday that it was likely Prince Philip would stay in hospital into this week. He was visited by his son, the Prince of Wales, on Saturday. A palace source previously said that the duke, who turns 100 in June, had walked into the hospital in Marylebone unaided.
Philip has suffered from several health problems over the years, including a blocked coronary artery and a bladder infection. He spent four nights in hospital in December 2019, when he was treated for a “pre-existing condition”. Both the Duke and the Queen received their COVID-19 vaccinations in early January.
