PRIME MINISTER MODI’S RULING PARTY LOSES CRUCIAL INDIAN STATE ELECTION

03/05/2021

Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party lost state elections in India, the country with the highest number of daily cases and deaths in the new coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic worldwide.

In West Bengal, the Prime Minister's People's Party of India (BJP) lost the vote for the third consecutive year.

The voting process, which began in March 2021, continued in April as the pandemic increased its impact.

In a country where virus-related deaths exceed 3,000 a day in proportion to the increase in covid-19 cases, Modi has been criticized for focusing on elections rather than making the pandemic his top priority.
