Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Socialist Party lawmaker Isabel Santos has announced that they will welcome 60 children who remain in refugee camps in Greece with no adult relatives.
Isabel Santos did not give details on the date when the migrant children would be brought to Portugal. The migrant children are expected to start their new lives in Portugal within a few weeks, Reuters News Agency reported.
In Greece, 5,300 children are living in difficult conditions, many of them in migrant camps on the islands, where conditions are known to be poor, which have been severely criticized, without their parents or adult relatives.
Refugee camps are seen as among the most vulnerable places in the Coronavirus outbreak that has afflicted the world. In these camps, which had hosted more migrants than they were capable of before the outbreak, shortages of clean water and shortages in sanitation were already a health threat.
