Selin ATAY-TDO- United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visits an illegal Israeli settlement in the West Bank, it is the first visit by a top US official. The US Secretary of state also told officials during his visit that products from the settlements could be labeled as "Made in Israel."
The Turkish Foreign Ministry reacted strongly to minister Pompeo's visit.
On the other hand, all Jewish settlements in the occupied Territories in the West Bank are considered contrary to international norms and rules.
"We will consider the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS), which acts globally, to be anti-Semitic," the US Secretary of state said during his visit. Mike Pompeo noted that all groups involved in the movement could be prevented from receiving funding from the government.
In his statement, Mike Pompeo called Israel "the homeland of the Jewish people”. “The city of Jerusalem is considered the capital of Israel. It's crazy that the United States hasn't done this in decades. We moved our embassy to Jerusalem. It's true and fair," Pompeo said.
Mike Pompeo also visited the Psagot Winery near Jerusalem, where had a wine called “ Pompeo”. In the eyes of the international community, the winery is located in Palestinian territory illegally seized by Jewish settlers.
