Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- At 9.30 am local time in Scotland, two Muslim refugees were released from Glasgow, in the predominantly Muslim neighbourhood of Pollokshields, on Eid al-Fitr.
Immigration police from Britain's Interior Office raided a house in the area, putting two people in a van for deportation, while residents who saw the incident prevented the van from moving.
One demonstrator lay under the van, blocking the vehicle, while others surrounded the vehicle.
Police Scotland was then called to the scene.
Police guarding the van intervened with the demonstrators.
Footage posted online shows police then leaving the van and crossing the roadside.
Police Scotland said in a statement following the incident that the UK Immigration Office had called them to the scene, adding: "Police Scotland is not helping to send refugees back. Officers are at the scene to oversee the protest and ensure public safety," the statement said.
Police Scotland said Superintendent Mark Sutherland had decided to release the two refugees.
