Selin ATAY-TDO- Poland has announced plans to construct a new fence along its border with Belarus in an effort to cease migrants illegally entering the country.
The Polish Defence Ministry stated that more soldiers will also be deployed in order to protect the frontier, in addition to 900 soldiers who were deployed last week. "We are dealing with an attack on Poland, it is an attempt to trigger a migration crisis,'' Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said at a news conference.
EU countries have found guilty Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko for deliberately facilitating the illegal migration of people.
The prime ministers of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland issued a joint statement to the United Nations and pressured the UN to take action against Belarus, accusing the Belarusian President of carrying out a "hybrid war". “Using immigrants to destabilize neighboring countries constitutes a clear breach of the international law,'' it is said in the joint statement.
