Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman told reporters during the meeting that he had been briefed on the latest developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Hoffman said he did not want tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean to escalate, and called on France and Turkey to find a solution to the disputes.

Both Turkey and France are important NATO allies, Hoffman said, adding that the United States would like to see tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean eased.

"We want to see France and Turkey continue to work together and find solutions that do not require having warships or air vehicles in a less cooperative environment," a Pentagon spokesman said in a statement."
