Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- The United States Department of Defense (Pentagon) said in a statement that the $10 billion Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) tender that Amazon is taking to court for alleged wrongdoing against Microsoft has been canceled.
"Today, the Department of Defense canceled the Joint Defense Infrastructure Initiative Cloud tender and initiated contract termination procedures. Due to changing requirements, increased cloud communication, and industry progress, the Ministry determined that the JEDI Cloud project no longer meets its needs." the Pentagon said in a statement.
The ministry said it would launch a multi-stakeholder and indefinite tender for a new cloud project called Joint Combatant Cloud Capability (JWCC).
The Pentagon aims to receive offers from Microsoft and Amazon Web Services (AWS), as well as sources such as Oracle, Google-owned Alphabet Inc., and IBM, the statement said.
The cancellation of the project was agreed in the interests of the U.S. government and a negotiation will be held between the U.S. administration and the company for Microsoft's business and residential expenses, the statement said.
