27/07/2021

Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- The Pakistani government announced reopening the Spin Boldak Border Crossing in the southwest, where the Taliban group seized control earlier this month.

Following the decision, more than 100 trucks waiting on the Pakistani side of the border crossed into Afghanistan.

The border crossing between the city of Chemen in Pakistan's Belucistan province and Spin Boldak district in Kandahar, Afghansitan, fell under the group's control in early July after fierce clashes between Taliban militants and Afghan security forces, and the Islamabad government has since decided to close the border.

A spokesman for the Afghan Interior and Finance ministries and the Taliban did not comment on pakistan's decision.
