News Centre -TDO- On March 4, the exhibition "El Tiempo de Alicia" (Alicia’s time) by Mexican photographer Santiago García Galván opened at the Doğan Taşdelen Çağdaş Sanatlar Merkezi cultural center of the Municipality of Cankaya.
For this exhibition, the artist decided to use photography as a way to recreate passages from the classic "Alice in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll. The images presented by the author take us on a tour of Havana, exploring along with the protagonists of this story, Alicia and the rabbit, its peculiar geography. We walk through a timeless city that merges art with reality and presents us characters that seem to have come out of a fantastic story.
During his opening remarks, Ambassador José Luis Martínez thanked the Çağdaş Sanatlar Merkezi and the Çankaya Municipality for their collaboration to support the promotion of Mexican culture in Turkey. Similarly, he recognized the artist for his outstanding career, not only as a photographer, but also as a film producer and for his contribution to promoting the image of Mexico in the world.
Santiago García Galván is a photographer, film producer and entertainment entrepreneur who has been in the business for more tan 20 years. Educated on filmaking, visual arts and business in the entertainment industries he co-founded in 2010 Itaca Films, one of the lead movie production companies in Latin America. Since then he has produced and collaborated with the production of more than 60 titles as producer. “El tiempo de Alicia” is Santiago’s debut as an artist, a show that has already been presented in Mexico and Cuba.
Municipal authorities, the Diplomatic Corps, the artistic and Mexican community, as well as the Turkish public interested in Mexican art attended the event.
The exhibition will remain open to the public until Wednesday, March 28.
