News Center -TDO- J-MENA Project and Kyushu University Ankara Liaison Office opening ceremony was held in Ankara Sheraton Hotel.

Japan’s Ambassador to Turkey Akio Miyajima, Koichiro Watanabe from Kyushu University, Rector of METU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Verşan Kök, Rector of Ankara University Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş, Rector of Gazi University Prof. Dr. İbrahim Uslan and many other guests attended to the ceremony.

Establishment of this region within the scope of J-MENA Project initiated by the Government of Japan (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology: MEXT) in order to encourage those who travel from Middle East and Africa to Japan for educational purposes and to develop scientific interaction between these regions and Japan one of the two liaison offices was opened in Ankara. (Other liaison office is located in Cairo.)

Kyushu University, one of Japan's leading public universities, is responsible for the management of this project and liaison office. (Kyushu University, THE (Times Higher Education) is in the 401-500 group in the 2019 world universities ranking and in the 351-400 group in the 2018 ranking.) As a contact point to encourage Turkish students to study in Japan by cooperating with 16 universities in Japan. Will support students interested in education in Japan and institutions interested in joint research with Japanese universities.

Activities include:

Giving information about education in Japan (Fair organization, effective use of all opportunities, etc.)

Individual information sharing and counseling on education in Japan

Japan and Turkey's mediation between higher education institutions, and so on.
