Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Due to the new kind of coronavirus (Covid-19) disease spreading around the world, for the first time in history, Olympic fever will be burned without spectators. The Greek Olympic Committee has announced that no spectators will be allowed for the ceremony, scheduled for 12 March 2020.
Under this decision, which broke almost a hundred years of tradition, only 100 people from the International Olympic Committee and the Tokyo 2020 Committee will be allowed to attend the ceremony.
Rehearsals for the torch-burning ceremony will also be closed to the press. Olympian, the ancient city where the ceremony was held, is among the cities most affected by Coronavirus. The number of coronavirus cases reached 90 in Greece.
