Serhat TUNAR -TDO- The head of France's Coronavirus Science Board has announced that being overweight is a major risk factor in the covid-19 outbreak caused by the new type of coronavirus.
Professor Jean-François Delfraissy, who chairs the Science Board in France that has made recommendations to the government about coronavirus, claimed that the United States is particularly vulnerable because of its high obesity rate.
Prospector Delfraissy told French state radio that 17 million people in France, with a population of 67 million, are at serious risk because of their age, chronic diseases and obesity.
Delfraissy went on to explain: "this virus is dangerous, it can hit young people, especially those with excess weight. Overweight people have to be really careful. So we are concerned for our friends in the United States. The problem of obesity in the United States is well known, they will probably have more problems because of obesity."
