The resale of bicycles taken from state warehouses where stolen items are stored in parts of Germany by police officers at second-hand markets has recently garnered huge backlash in the country.
Following this incident, the Federal Assembly of Germany shared statistics on bicycle use for the years 2015 and 2019.
According to the statistics released, bicycle theft outside Germany's State of Saxony, which borders Czechia and Poland, has dropped 17 percent in the last 5 years. In 2015, it was announced that while there were 330 thousand stolen cases in one year, this number has fallen regularly every year and this number has fallen to 271 thousand in 2019.
