28/07/2021

Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Communication channels between North Korea and South Korea, which have been closed for the past year, have reopened on the 68th anniversary of the armistice that ended the Korean War.

The parties agreed to improve relations despite a United States-led diplomatic stalemate aimed at denuclearizing the North, the parties said in a statement.

Correspondence between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, which has been going on since April to reopen closed channels of communication, yielded positive results, the statement said.
