Selin ATAY-TDO- NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed regret that the United States imposed sanctions on Turkey over its purchase of the S-400. "I call on Turkey and all NATO allies to 'seek solutions'," Jens Stoltenberg said in his speech.
A joint press conference was held after NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg met with Montenegrin Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic. At the press conference, Stoltenberg also answered questions about the US decision on sanctions against Turkey. "I regret that we are in a situation where NATO allies are imposing sanctions on each other," Stoltenberg said in his speech, noting that he had previously expressed concern about Turkey's purchase of the S-400 systems.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference about the US sanctions:
"This is a national decision. However, the S-400 system is not compatible with NATO systems. These cannot be integrated with NATO's air and missile defense system. I expressed my concern for that. At the same time, I call on Turkey and all its NATO allies to seek solutions.
We know that there have been previous negotiations on the delivery of NATO systems such as Patriot and SAMP-T. These systems can both strengthen Turkey's air defenses and are compatible with NATO. At the moment, it is important to look at how we can find a positive solution to this situation, which is difficult for Turkey and the alliance."
