Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Australians will read a national anthem from January 1, whose lyrics have been altered, including the country's Indigenous Peoples. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced they have changed the lyrics of the country's national anthem. Morrison said he hoped the move would reinforce the spirit of unity in the country.
In recent years, a new step has been taken towards indigenous people in Australia, which has been more attentive to the history of indigenous people in political and cultural events. In the national anthem, the expressions 'Because we are young and free', which ignored the history and existence of indigenous peoples, were changed to 'Because we are one and free'.
The move was welcomed, though surprising to the opposition.
