News Center-TDO- Slovakia’s Ambassador to Turkey Anna Turenicova and her spouse Dusan Turenic hosted a reception at Ankara Park Inn Hotel in consequence of the National and Army Days of Slovakia.
Deputy Minister of Justice Ugurhan Kus, Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, Mission representative in Ankara and many other guests attended to the reception.
The reception started with singing the national anthems of the two countries after Slovakia’s Ambassador to Turkey Anna Turenicova and her spouse Dusan Turenic welcomed the guests.
Ambassador Turenicova started her opening speech by explaining how the Velvet Revolution started in 1989 in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Mrs. Ambassador told that they chose a hotel for the reception on a street that named after Alexander Dubcek, a famous Slovak politician, and stated“We highly appreciate the respect and admiration of the Turkish people to this important figure in our history."
Reminding that this year Slovakia is the head of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Ambassador Turenicova said “Slovakia has a very close relationship with our Turkish partners in the OSCE, which contributes significantly to the friendly relations between our countries."
Ambassador Turenicova reminded that it was the day of the armed forces as well as the national day of her country and said "Today, we respect the brave Slovak soldiers and volunteers who have sacrificed their lives for the freedom of their homeland throughout history."
Deputy Minister of Justice Uğurhan Kus also made a speech and said that Slovakia is a valuable ally and friend of Turkey and added, “Relations between our countries are at an excellent level. Mutual visits also confirm this issue." Deputy Minister of Justice also pointed out that under the common commitment in the defense and security fields and said “We appreciate and appreciate Slovakia's support for our country's EU accession process.”
The reception ended with refreshments served to the guests.
