MORE THAN 4 BILLION PEOPLE STILL LACK ANY SOCIAL PROTECTION, ILO REPORT FINDS

07/09/2021

Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- In its latest report, the International Labour Organization (ILO) said that despite the unprecedented spread of social protection around the world during the new coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic crisis, more than 4 billion people have not benefited from any protection.

Underlining that the fight against the global pandemic is unstable and inadequate, the ILO said that the gap between high and low-income countries is deepening and social protection is not provided.

Social protection includes access to health care and income security, especially in old age, unemployment, disease, disability, workplace injury, childbirth for families with children, or the loss of the person who provides basic income to the household.
