MOLDOVA'S TOUGH STANCE ON RUSSIA'S MILITARY DRILLS IN TRANSNISTRIA

Moldova harshly complained to Moscow over military exercises involving Russian troops in Transnistria, a breakaway region of Moldova which is de facto controlled by Moscow-backed separatists. Moldova' foreign ministry issued a statement on August 18 saying that the exercise was illegal, “provocative, and inadmissible”. It is aimed at “undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity” of Moldova, the ministry said.
Moldova’s foreign affairs and European integration ministry summoned the representative of Russia’s embassy in Chisinau, Igor Dovbnea over joint military drills of the Russian troops with the so-called Transnistrian special forces.
